Welcome to RydX ("we", "us", or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Services").

Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of our Services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: name, email address
  • Profile data: FTP (Functional Threshold Power), weight, date of birth (used for training metrics)
  • Communications: messages you send us via the contact form

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • GPS and location data: collected during active recording sessions only, with your explicit permission. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Sensor data: power output, heart rate, cadence, speed data transmitted from paired Bluetooth devices during a ride.
  • Activity data: ride duration, distance, elevation, route files (GPX/FIT format).
  • Device information: device type, operating system version, app version, crash reports, and performance diagnostics.

2.3 What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect your location data outside of active recording sessions.
  • We do not sell your personal data or training data to third parties.
  • We do not use your training data for advertising purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, operate and maintain the Services
  • Calculate training metrics including TSS*, IF*, and NP* in compliance with TrainingPeaks licensing
  • Enable synchronisation with third-party platforms (Strava, TrainingPeaks) where you have authorised this
  • Improve app performance and fix bugs using anonymised diagnostic data
  • Respond to your support enquiries
  • Send you service-related communications (not marketing, unless you opt in)

* TSS, IF and NP are registered trademarks of TrainingPeaks, LLC. Their use within RydX is subject to a commercial licence agreement.

4. Sharing Your Information

We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Third-party integrations: When you connect RydX to Strava or TrainingPeaks, your activity data is shared with those platforms under their respective privacy policies. You control which platforms are connected.
  • Service providers: We use carefully selected third-party vendors (e.g., cloud storage, analytics) who process data solely on our behalf and under strict data processing agreements.
  • Legal obligations: We may disclose your data if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and activity data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to access your data
  • Right to correct inaccurate data
  • Right to deletion ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to data portability (export your rides in GPX or FIT format at any time)

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not directed at individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a prominent notice within the app. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
