Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how RydX ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the RydX iOS app and the rydx.app website.

RydX is designed to work primarily on your device. We do not sell your personal information, we do not use ride data for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Enter in the App

  • Profile and settings data, such as FTP, weight, units, route preferences and sensor settings.
  • Routes or activity files you import, such as GPX, FIT or CSV files.

2.2 Information Created During a Ride

  • Location data: GPS route, distance, speed, elevation and related ride samples, collected only when you allow location access and record a ride.
  • Sensor data: power, heart rate, cadence, speed and battery information from paired Bluetooth devices during a ride.
  • Activity data: elapsed time, laps, pauses, ride summaries, charts, route files and export files.

2.3 Website Contact Information

  • If you contact us through the website, we collect the name, email address, topic and message you submit.
  • The contact form may use anti-spam checks and email delivery infrastructure to send your message to us.

2.4 What We Do Not Do

  • We do not collect location data when you are not recording a ride.
  • We do not sell, rent or trade personal information or ride data.
  • We do not use ride data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
  • The RydX app does not currently use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs or cloud storage providers for ride data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Record rides and display live cycling metrics.
  • Connect to Bluetooth sensors you choose to pair.
  • Import routes, provide navigation and calculate climb information.
  • Store ride history and generate export files on your device.
  • Respond to support, beta or legal enquiries you send us.

4. When Information Leaves Your Device

The RydX app stores ride data locally by default. Information leaves your device only in limited cases:

  • When you export a file or share it using iOS share features.
  • When you choose to write supported workout data to Apple Health, subject to your Health permissions.
  • When you contact us through the website or by email.
  • When disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect users, us or the public.

Future optional integrations, if added, will require your explicit action to connect them and will be covered by updated privacy disclosures.

5. Data Retention

Ride data stored by the RydX app remains on your device until you delete it or delete the app. Exported files are controlled by you and by the apps or locations where you save them.

Website contact messages are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain records of support requests, and meet legal obligations.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access, export or delete ride data stored in the app.
  • Change or revoke iOS permissions for Location, Bluetooth and Health in Settings.
  • Ask us to delete contact messages or other personal information we hold about you, unless we must retain it for legal reasons.
  • Withdraw consent for optional features by turning them off or revoking permissions.

7. Security

RydX relies on iOS platform protections for app sandboxing, device encryption and permission controls. Website and email traffic is protected in transit using HTTPS/TLS where supported. Access to support messages and operational systems is limited to people who need it.

No app, device or network can be guaranteed completely secure. If we learn of a security issue that materially affects your personal information, we will take appropriate steps to investigate, fix it and notify affected users where required by law.

8. Children's Privacy

RydX is not part of the App Store Kids category and is not directed to children under 13. The App Store age rating describes content suitability; it does not mean the app is intended for unsupervised use by children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes, we will use a reasonable notice method, such as updating this page or showing a notice in the app where appropriate. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
